ProtoStar Cloud Migration
Migrated a trading platform from on-premise to AWS with zero downtime, reducing infrastructure costs by 41%.
ProtoStar's on-premise trading infrastructure was hitting capacity limits and costing $2.4M annually in hardware and ops. A cloud migration had been attempted twice before and abandoned due to latency concerns.
We designed a hybrid migration strategy that moved non-latency-sensitive workloads first while keeping the trading engine on-premise. The trading engine was then re-architected for cloud-native operation with dedicated placement groups and enhanced networking.
The full migration completed with zero downtime. Infrastructure costs dropped by 41%, and P99 latency improved from 120ms to under 50ms. Auto-scaling now handles 10× peak loads without manual intervention.
